so like the title says today i downloaded the google mobile app from the itunes store so it is the most current one. but when i check for updates on the iphone its says there is one for google mobile app (which looks like a previous version, the one in my itunes library is a newer number) but when the info screen comes up it says installed and is greyed out so i can't hit the button.

I found a bug in windows store in windows 8 release preview. The Windows Store's tile keeps showing a number 1 on it, indicating that an update is available. When I open the app, it too says that an update is available in the top right corner.
However, when I click the purple text and go to the update page, there are no updates available. a better solution imo is to pass the version of the app systematically in the header of all API calls, and then have the API return a specific status code if it detects the version is obsolete. and then handle it inside the app. this is better than having to call yet another dedicated API for this check, and having to figure out exactly when/where this API call should done inside the app/service.
